OUR STORY

Gladtidings operates as a facilities management enterprise that cater to blue chip companies. Our role is to allow pressurised executive teams to concentrate on their core revenue- generating activities. Successful companies become successful because they focus on their core revenue-generating activities. Yet, every business has non-core activities that need to be managed. Outsourcing your non-core activities to Gladtidings curbs unnecessary costs and drastically improves bottom-lines. Gladtidings has been in existence since 2008. We are based in Kriel Town, Nkangala District Emalahleni Municipality. We are currently contracted to Anglo American Thermal Coal – Kriel Colliery (Cleaning); Anglo Isibonelo Colliery (Catering); and Exxaro and Eskom on ad hoc basis catering service. The business is owned and managed by Ms Minah Zulu who has an extensive mining background in maintenance planning spanning nearly 15 years. Assisted by a well-equipped and qualified management team.

Minah Zulu's Story

My mother would take a bus at 4 am every morning to get to her job as an office cleaner at a coal mine. She earned R400 a month. And yet she was able to give me everything I ever asked of her, that was until I was at a technical college and asked her for money to register for my N4 Diploma that she answered me “until what N are you still going to ask me for money” – the frustration in her voice and the dismay because she no longer had the job that paid her R10 a week after she had been retrenched from the mine where she earned R400 a month. She worked for 10 years and only got R2, 000 in total from her retirement fund and retrenchment package.

10 years later she calls me her hero – I decided then that I would build a legacy in her honour a legacy to carry on what she has started make more mothers who work as cleaners give their children a start in life to carve a better future from. It might have been R400 a month or R10 a week but it went a long way for a child hungry enough for success and for a mother who was equally hungry to see her child become something better in life!
